twitter tendonitis tendinopathy discussion
Twitter can be a great way of challenging yourself professionally. Many of the world’s best PTs are active on twitter and involved in ongoing debates about the latest research and various topics. Sometimes I stay on the sidelines, watch and learn, and othertimes I’ll join in. Tom Goom (a running physio from Britain with an awesome blog!), specializes in running rehab and recently wrote a case-study in the blog of the British Journal of Sports Medicine. He presented the story of Al, a runner with achilles tendinopathy. He provided various info, including training data, and asked the twitter community to comment on their thoughts about training error using the hashtag #achillesal. Having read the blog, I saw that we had four weeks of mileage data and I was able to suggest using the acute:chronic workload ratio (see our previous blog) that training load was not likely to be the issue. Other sports medicine professionals continued to make their suggestions. A few days later Tom put the various tweets, including mine, together into a storify post – see below! This also provides some introduction into the new blog I am about to post: Tendinopathy, not Tendonitis! Stay tuned!
